Lecture: From the Invisible to the Visible: a Renaissance in Danish Church Interiors
April 24

Throughout 2011-2012 Professor Elizabeth Larson and the Conservatory of Music will implement a new concert series in conjunction with Year of the Arts and its focus on Sacred Space. This series will bring soloists and ensembles out of the music building and into various spaces on campus usually not considered performance venues. 30-minute recitals will occur around the cafes and eating areas or by the Flour Fountain, in Rose Chapel and in other trafficked sites—approximately 3 times a month. Look for the Random Acts of Culture sandwich board whenever Biola musicians are “posted and busking.”

The Monday Morning Chapel Series, In This Place, will offer reflections and mediations on biblical passages where a place, space or moment of time is transformed into something that we might call sacred or divine—the realization and memorialization of God’s presence and intervention in our lives, personally and communally. In addition, a five-part chapel series, Sanctuary & Sacred Space, will further explore the relationship between the arts and sacred space.
